Street Scene
Open Call Group Exhibition.
Scene One EXT Street -
The setting sun reflects off a discarded can. Two lover kiss in public abandon. A cat suns itself amidst the weeds. Shady men smoke and plot murder. A homeless man sleeps in a heap. Graffiti sprawls across the crumbling walls…
The street lives large in our collective imagination. Beloved by artists of all types. The street is public space and yet the scene for so many private moments. The streets can be full of people or a stage for just one; filled with golden sunlight or dark and liminal. A European lane full of flowers and flowing dresses or an Asian backstreet cluttered with scooters and hawkers, or a suburban nightmare of emptiness and conformity? The street can be full of drama, bustling life or gritty ambience and quiet contemplation.
Street Scene is an open call exhibition centred on the street however you see it. Artists in all mediums and all levels are invited to interpret the theme in any way:
- Painting
- Printmaking & Drawing
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Video
- Sound & Mixed Media
