Entries Close: Friday 14th August 2026, at midnight (11:59 PM).
Artwork Drop-off: Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August, 2026, between 11 AM and 5 PM.
Opening Celebration: Saturday 22nd August from 2-5 PM.
Exhibition run: 22nd - 30th August, 2026
Art Pickup: Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August
Entry Fee: $35 per artwork or 3 for $90
Maximum Entries: 3 per person
Max size: 100 by 100 cm.
● Submissions are open to artists of all experience levels.
● All entries will be exhibited during the Sublime Corpus Exhibition.
● Fitzroy Public Gallery reserves the right to cancel entries or exclude works that violate the Terms and Conditions.

● Accepted Mediums: Both 2D (e.g., paintings, drawings, photography) and 3D (e.g., sculptures displayed on plinths) artworks are welcome.
● All artworks must measure 100cm or smaller on any side, including frames and mounting.
● Paper works must be framed
“Sublime Corpus” invites artists to once again explore the idea of the body, any body, as a site of the sublime. Here, the “corpus” is not limited to the human figure alone but expands to any physical form that evokes wonder, reverence, or unease. From flesh and bone to celestial, synthetic forms designed by the artist, or insect, the exhibition asks: What bodies captivate you? Where do you find the sublime in the physical?
This show welcomes works that dwell in the tension between the material and the immaterial - where physical forms become portals to something vast, beautiful, terrifying, or beyond easy explanation.
Artists are invited to consider:
Bodies they are personally drawn to whether it be human, animal, celestial, synthetic. The visceral experience of the body as sublime: beauty, decay, excess, fragility, resilience. The physical as a gateway to transcendence or transformation. How forms become charged with meaning, emotion, or spiritual power.
The sublime not only as grand and monumental but also as intimate, uncanny, or unsettling.
Mediums: Open to all disciplines: painting, sculpture, installation, photography, performance, sound, moving image, or mixed media. Works may be literal or abstract but must engage with physical form in some way.
Tone: Raw, lush, minimal, maximal - there is no single aesthetic for the sublime. Instead, the show seeks a chorus of interpretations that reveal the strange and potent beauty of physical bodies, however defined.
Anyone can submit up to 3 pieces of artwork, each fitting within a max dimension of 100 by 100cm. Every entry will be proudly displayed, making this a truly public celebration of art.
